Kosovo is a mountain country. Two great ranges frame it: the Accursed Mountains in the west, sharp and glacial, and the gentler Sharr range in the south. Between them run some of the finest walking in the Balkans, from gentle valley paths to the 192km Peaks of the Balkans trail that loops across three borders. Peja and the Rugova Gorge make the natural base, with via ferrata routes bolted into the cliffs and cold rivers full of trout.
